Acerak remake

Post by VooDoo-(DOG)- » Sun Oct 15, 2017 1:07 pm

I noticed that yrex over at Oldunreal has now published his Acerak remake, so I am linking to it from here, because not everyone on this forum is also a member there and thus may not notice it :

Acerak remake

Description:
A semi-faithful remake of the unleaked beta map. Includes remakes of the screenshots and lots of new stuff. Essentially, it's a bunch of random corridors and traps with 'Temple' stamped on it. (Although that probably shouldn't be surprising.) Besides that, there's new music, and there are also some areas with different types of challenges than what you usually see in stock Unreal.

WOOF!

There was a third picture actually too, part of the map was shown on some box cover art of Unreal, he recreated that area too.

I did test two previous versions of this map before he released it. The first one ended where the lava river is basically, the end was just there, then yrex extended the map and the version I tested was version "103" so right before the release.

I wish he did tweak some sections a little more, but well I guess he was itching to get the map finally out given that it's been months in production now (or something like that).

It's good that he fixed many things too, the map was actually even harder before believe it or not. The timing puzzles were almost impossible and there was even more mantas ready to push you off ledges. And the pyramid part where the glass breaks was more complex, the lever actually just opened a hatch in the ceiling for a little bit so you had to shoot a flare in the ceiling and that sent some beam or something to break the glass pyramid. It was a lot more frustrating and I still think the ceiling-crushers part with the fireslith is too hard and often the mover just crushes me when riding up.
