On the news-page at
oldunreal.com there's also an item on this matter.
I recently discussed this with Smirftsch (oldunreal) and he will update the newspage as soon as he has time.
(will be within a few days). It will show how to update the
unreal.ini for players, but also for unreal-server admins.
Since GameSpy will stop the service on 31st of May, we still have more than enough time to arrange things...
If you go to
oldunreal.com and click "
Forums", you can see a small statusbox on the top right corner of the page.
It shows the status of a number of known Master Servers.
I started hosting a Master Server as well (
master.errorist.tk) which is also available 24hrs a day.
As soon as Smirftsch has updated his newspage, I will send an email to the unreal server admins, which have a valid email-address on their server info.
Just as a bit of service to let them know GameSpy will stop activities, and what they need to change in
unreal.ini to stay available for gameplay.
For your info:
I'm running the multi Master Server from the guys at
333networks.com, which uses SQLite to store game-server info.
I've created a small PHP script which query this database to select all unreal servers (regardless which version they run) and then connects to the unreal-servers to fetch Admin Name and Admin Email.
As soon as Smirftsch has updated his newspage I will run this script to send the unreal-server admins an email with the info about GameSpy and what to do about it.
Just to try and make sure that everything keeps smooth
