More Mega Skins to read.

Installing the Mega Skin packs takes a little thinking. With the installation comes a error free
load of unreal in the playing machine as far as skins. It also lowers the number of skin packages
required to be installed on the server.

First about skins.

Your unreal.Text Document (.log) in the system folder will show the following skins when a fresh install is
completed.

Loading: Package Female1skins
Loading: Package Female2skins
Loading: Package Male1skins
Loading: Package Male2skins
Loading: Package Male2skins

This document shows what is loading in your game as the game starts. This should be free of skin errors, and additionally other problems loading unreal can be determined by carefully reading this document in plain old note pad. This document is re written each time you start unreal. However some things can be kept in memory and may load when they have been removed. I suggest each time your referring to this document you start unreal two times, and then read it.

When you download cache skin files from the server, they are stored in the unreal cache folder like maps and other files. This enables you to see each player as they are dressed in a particular skin as they play on on-line servers. This enables you to see others, but not give the ability for you to use the skins yourself. This is kind of like a view only other players using the skin cache. When you actually install the skins into the game, you then can see the others and also use the skins yourself. The mega skin packs strategy has assembled for me, include well over 250 skins. These are zipped up so they can be downloaded from the map page. When you extract them to the desktop or somewhere you can find them you will find two installation exe. programs. One is for the .int files, which goes into system folder in UnrealGold, or the Texture files which goes into the texture folders in UnrealGold. These self installers also place a small uninstall
program into the UnreaGold System and Texture folders. They will have the same date you installed the skins in their properties, and you can remove the exe skin packs no matter where they went during install if you find these two files.

If you install the exe files for mega skin packs, couple of things you need to do as you install.
First I would recommend a back up of your current system and texture folders in unreal. This is simple, copy and paste these folders to your desktop.

Then I would suggest you remove all skins from the System and Texture Folders with the exception of any custom personal skins and the standard unreal skins. The Old public and private skins from newbie's will no longer function on Newbies servers.

There are a couple of ways to remove the old newbie skins and private skins. One by hand deleting each .int and .texture skin file.

The second method is to re install the old newbie's public skins with big khuna and such before installing the mega packs. Then locate the two uninstallers in system and texture folders and run it. This should leave you with standard skins and any other personal skins you had installed. You must remove private skins by hand.

At any rate, you need to get your old skin files cleaned up.

Then your ready to install the New Mega skin packages. Read the install program information as you progress with the self installing files. You must know two things. Is it Unreal Directory or Unreal Gold Directory, and on what drive location is it found.
Most unreal installations are Unreal Gold and located on the Main computer C: drive.
The default install location by these exe files will be C\UnrealGold\System\ which means the files on this install will be installed on your C drive, to the unrealgold folder and actually into the system folder itself. It also installs the uninstall program there if the target is correct.

During the installation when it comes to the target folder to be installed to, you have the opportunity to select a different install location than the default by using the radio button at the end of the line where it says its going to install these files.

You need to do this for both exe files, making sure they land in the correct folders.

You can then start the game 2X and then look at player set up and see if skins were correctly installed.
If you really want to check, read the unreal text document for the unreal log in the system folder in unreal.

This procedure applies to both public and private skins and with private skins, you will receive your custom int file for your skin up on request by email at gcbchome62@aol.com

Addendum: Skin cache files included now in Ultimate Cache Part 6 found on main web page left side under SuperCache button.
